Hi Everyone. I'm looking for some advice/recommendations concerning one of my Speckled Sussex pullets (almost 1 year old). Her comb and face are pale and she's lethargic. I checked her for mites and didn't find any. I also felt her crop and it seems ok. There's stuff in it, but it moves around and it's not hard. I felt her abdomen and I don't think she's got an egg stuck. She could have worms, but I haven't seen any. I offered her oatmeal with weak coffee and molasses, but she won't eat it. I can't tell if she's drinking or not but I doubt it. I've isolated her from the other chickens so that I can keep an eye on her and monitor what's she eating and drinking. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have a 2 y.o. hen that is in the same condition as your hen. It would not eat, so I have to feed it using a syringe. It's been like that for more than a week, possibly two now. I do see that the last two days she tries to eat a little on its own. So, maybe it is improving. Her condition is not contagious as my other hens are still healthy. Hope your hen will get better soon.

Thanks for your reply and I'm sorry to hear about your hen but if she's attempting to eat that's a good sign. Mine still isn't eating but she started to drink gatoraid/water solution today from a syringe. She seems pretty alert and not really very sick, but I'm still not going to put her back in with the other chickens as I have 27 new chicks I'm trying to integrate with my flock. Thanks again and good luck!
