I know it’s so early to guess if it’s hen or roo she is three weeks old and holy crap she/he feathers out fast!!!

I have this theory if a bird keeps jumping to me when I open the brooder it’s a rooster. They start at a young age playing you so you keep them…I’m on to this game….so far I have 4 suspects lol

This is one that likes to jump on my head, likes to play….this ss is nice to the extreme which is making me think rooster lol!

Their jumpiness probably doesn't determine gender, but if you're seeing something here, I'd love to know your end results! On this little guy, I'd suspect rooster. One reason for that, is off of my own personal theory called the Line Theory. That is, the line from his eye to his ear. If it went past and/or down, I'd say pullet. The other reason, a more legitimate reason, is the size of his comb. Sussexs from what I've seen have smaller combs naturally, so his comb size is already pretty big, thus him being a cockerel.

Everyone that jumps to me and plays has turned out to be a rooster! I’ll keep track and let you know, I stand behind this theory lol! I hope he’s not a rooster, I’m only going to keep a maran and ameraucana rooster :( I’ll update in a couple weeks!!

I’m good at 6 week olds but I had one just like that and in her brooder there were 3 jumpers 2 were roosters and the other one just a curios EE

There were 4 “roosters” but he ended up on top of my head…..

According to my theory (of trying to win your heart over by majorly sucking up) I have 5-6 roosters! Black ones are either olive eggers or marans….won’t know for awhile

The Marans look roosterish, except for the one in the back of the bottom picture. The Sussex looks like a he too.

Rooster theory they suck you in lol. Idk what one is my maran. Some are olive eggers and she uses her marans for that project.
