That will be nice to get some of your chicks. I love the little pullet from Suede and Velvet.

Just found out that in addition to dumping the box in the snow, the carrier also strapped it on top of his car to bump along his route! And they made the excuse that it didn't have a pink LIVE ANIMALS sticker. Well, geez, if he couldn't see the NEON YELLOW Hold at P.O. sticker or all the many bright NEON YELLOW fragile, DO NOT SHAKE, CRUSH or DROP stickers or the DO NOT FREEZE warning, then what the heck makes me think a pretty pink sticker would do any more good????????????????????????????????

another post office horror story, we could write a book on them. We do have some wonderfu postal workers though. When justusnak mailed me the live rescue birds and they were lost in the mail....my local post office notified every scheduled stop to tell them to put water in the box and made personal calls to Missouri offices trying to find my chickens. Then when they did come in they opened the box (with my permission) and checked on them before calling me to come pick them up. They were as excited as I was that the chickens made it ok. Great local bunch of gals here.

Mine here in the small town where I live has been pretty good about calling me, but I put an official hold on packages the week I'm expecting eggs. So far, so good. The guy always calls and says, "Are you sure you don't just want me to bring them when I bring your mail?", but he does what I instruct. At least, so far he has done very well. However, there are points along the way and any break in the chain can sink your hopes of incubating those eggs all the way through to chicks.
