This morning I went to mercer island to look at a four month old lavender Orpington rooster. So I follow the owner to the coop, and what do I see but five beautiful lavender orps, in a tiny run that would not house a pair of Dutch bantams. The rooster was very nice, so I brought home the free rooster. When I let him out in the run, and went to clean his travel cage, I heard these noises that amounted to chicken swearing, and the sound of snapping chain link. I run out the door and see a crow in the other run, and the roo charging the fence and hitting it. he has endeared himself to us, despite the defects caused by his neglect (rubbery toes, and a split wing). It helps that he is polite, although shy, as our other chicken is a spoiled diva.:) I will post pics later when he comes out of his pen. Yay for Spectre!

He sounds like a cool guy

Hi all,
Looking to buy chickens in South Florida - Lavender Orpingtons, Blue, Silver r Gold Wyendottes, or Marraduna Dasques. Any heritage breeders out there selling?

Nice rescue! I had a rooster named Specter, too. He was a Polish roo. He recently died. Can't wait for pics of Specter!
