ha!
yep, noticed that.
my rooster mostly just pokes about, but if one of his girls squawks he hops over there on the full run. the funny thing is he covers a lot of ground, but his stride speed is kinda slow... his full run looks like the astronaughts on the moon... he gets this long high bounce in every stride.... kinda Boing Boing Boing.... might be getting 10 or 12" of additional ground clearance on each bounce! clearly, gravity does not apply.
the girls, on the other hand, they've got a nice businesslike run - level on the ground and no energy wasted on extra vertical motion. although one of them does hold her folded wings lifted off her body and parallel to the ground... kinda like stabilizing alerons.
now my guineas, on the other hand, can get UP when needed. apparently they were poking about in the 3' weeds near my barn the other day when one of the cats snuck up on them. it really looked like you'd hit the LAUNCH button. two guineas came STRAIGHT up out of the weeds like they'd been bounced off a trampoline! over the top of the weeds, what I saw was them hitting the top of their trajectory then rolling head over heals in the air and vanishing back down into the weeds again! that combined with startled guinea squawk and then the little feathered dinosaurs dashing out of the weeds into the open yard about made me sit down in the grass I was laughing so hard!
