Spider Plant Pups Are Dieing. Please Help!

You could also set them in another pot of dirt nearby while still attached to the mother plant. This mimics what would happen in nature. Once they set strong roots in the new pot you can cut them off from the mother. Good luck!!
I tried this before and it didn't work. Anyway, thank you.

I have a 3 year old spider plant and every time I cut a pup off and plant it in so soil, it dies. Please give me some advise. Also the new pups have not been growing roots.

And how do I properly cut them off? They leave stumbs.

cutting off your pups, wait until the root is about one inch, place in water and thinner feeler roots will start to grow around the inner wall of your small plastic pot.. let me know if you see this and I will continue

Ok I will tell you when it happens. :)
I have possibly 500 pups, and during the winter if you have ever transplanted any of these they all have water bladders holding water ...I snip mine down to dirt level or just above and put a Kroger bag over for frosty mornings, even when they turn dark green and are soggy you will still have an alive heart in the middle and yes I water and spray every other day in winter too...

500 pups!
Water bladders? Are they the little packets of water in the soil? I call them bulbs.
Well, anyway. Thanks for the advice. :)

the bladders are part of the root when they start to mature! I was in disbelief when I first noticed! by the way , with tiny scissors snip the brown pointed ends off of the leaves... then new growth will start from the heart in the middle. some of my leaves are 2"s across because of the amonia and epsom salt
