Spilt h2o in incubator help!!!!

Newly hatched chick nocked over water and now the newspaper that the other 17 eggs are sitting on is soaked. Are the eggs ok or could they have drowned?

calm down, take a deep breath and relax.

your eggs will be just fine, open the incubator wipe up as much water as you can quickly and replace the lid. as the other water dries your humidity will come back up fast. you may need to lower your humidity if the chicks dont dry well.

If he is in the brooder make sure he is under the light (or whatever your heat source) where it is 95* or a little above. If he is soaked I would very gently dry him with paper towels or a soft absorbent cloth. Being wet he could be chilled very easily and that is very bad.

ETA: The incubator is the best place to let them dry and fluff, but I assume you removed him to avoid the water incident again?

I dried him off, and he is walking around now, so I think that he is going to be fine. I am just worried about the eggs now, the bottom of some of them were really wet, I had to dry them off. How will I know if they are still ok when I candle them? Thank you guys so much for helping me, I really really appreciate it!

Good to hear he is perking up. Have any of the other eggs pipped yet? If not they should be fine now that you sopped up the water. If you have any pipped they should also be fine unless the water managed to go directly into a pip hole.

The other eggs were in different stages of development, and no pip holes yet. I know that probably isn't the way to incubate eggs, I just got overly excited and stuck them in there. I have moved the eggs to a new incubator after drying them off, and little guy is running around his brooder chirping and fluffing up. I am so new at this! I am only sixteen and have no help with all of this except for you guys, but am already hooked with these little guys. Thank you for your help!

I would not recommend trying to candle them right now. (I know easier said than done!) During pip and hatch it is critical that humidity stay up and steady. If it drops suddenly when you have pips or zipping going on, it is possible that it could cause shrink wrapping in those chicks.

Ok, I will restrain form candling

At the moment the humidity is at 60% in the incubator, but since they got wet is this to high? OMG my chick just discovered his feet, he keeps bending over and poking them with his beak!

Ah! Well, if you have no more due to hatch right now, then you could candle to check them. In ones that are growing you should see a nice network of veins showing. However, they do get darker as the chick grows to fill more of the shell. But you should still be able to see veins at the edges of the air cell if your light is bright enough.
