Oh thank you! thank you! thank you!

The Spiral is cool too, but I can imagine the cats having fun with that one. Yes they're not supposed to be on the kitchen countertops, but I do have to sleep sometime.

So excited! I ended up ordering a Skelter from a UK seller on eBay (it doesn't appear to be sold in the US) as the process seemed the easiest. I just got a notification that it has already been shipped! I can't wait to get it in the mail. With international shipping and today's exchange rate, it ended up costing about $59. A bit steep for an egg basket, but it's just so cool and practical!

I ordered one on Jan 18th and it hasn't arrived yet - I was told that shipments were taking up to 6 weeks - I think they are sending them surface instead of air.....?

Yeah, I got a response from the seller who included a message from the Department of Homeland Security about delays in packages shipped from overseas. Due to increased security measures on air cargo post-9/11, many packages are sent via ship, so it could take up to 10 (!!!) weeks. I'm going to want it *really* badly by the time it finally arrives!! Somebody in the US needs to start importing these things!

Looking at it, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to make a DIY version of the egg skelter, at least something similar that served the same function? I wonder what kindd of metal it's made of, and if it's welded or soldered? I have a soldering torch and I do have access to welding equipment, but my attempts at welding always ends up looking like what comes out of my chickens' rear ends. That's what welders call it, actually....(they use a less polite term) when an inexperienced welder makes a bunch of ineffective "splatters" when attempting to weld a solid straight bead. LOL.

I'm absolutely in love with the egg skelter idea, just not thrilled about paying $60 and waiting 10 weeks to recieve one.

I may just try to see what I can make at home. Knowing my tendency to procrastinate, it may be another 10 weeks before I get around to it, LOL....but I bet I could figure something out for less than $60. It's worth a shot anyhow- I'll let you all know if I'm successful!

I thought after months and months that there would be a seller here in the US. I can't justify 60 bucks on an egg basket.
I am hoping my husband, who likes to tinker, can think of something useable and attractive.

That Omlet website has a US store. http://www.omlet.us/shop/shop.php?cat=Kitchen&sub=Egg+Storage That Skelter is $36.99. I think its really neat. But I would think if one was not careful you would break eggs when first putting them in or taking them out when its full. I know they would get broken here at my house. lol I don't have the carefullest sons or DH.

ok that's a fun device!
I wonder if the egg would crack when it rolls down and meets up with the eggs already in there? anyone have one that they have experience with?

I loved some of the other things on the website too... the egg cozys and egg cups are a hoot!
