spiral leg band question

I just ordered 100 spiral leg bands size nine for my silkies. The silkies are just chicks right now but I have a grown turken so I tried putting it on her to practice lol When I put it on her, I had to stretch the whole band out and the wrap it around the turkens leg. It seems like I can adjust the size. When the band was on her leg, I had to tighten it on her leg too. Is that normal?

Size 9 is good for bantam size birds however size 11 is needed for your larger ones like the turken. I would take the one off you put on there, for it will eventually cause problems when the bird gets bigger and older.
