Spiral leg bands

I bought some spiral leg bands for my chicks but don't know how to put them on them. I had assumed they would come with some type of instructions.

I like to have a second person for chicks so I don't hurt their legs accidentally.
For adults you can do it yourself. Just pry the plastic apart.
Sometimes with chicks I slide their toes through rather than slipping it around the leg.
Be watchful because they'll outgrow them very fast and can actually get embedded in the leg.

Yes be careful I went to a friends house. He was given 6 adult chickens and all 6 had leg bands. 5 of which were to some degree embedded in the leg. One roosters entire foot was swollen. So if you use the just keep an eye on the.

Thank you! As long as I have them in a pen I can keep an eye on them. Too bad there isn't one that will expand as the chicken grows.
