I just bought some blue bantam cochins this morning

which I've been wanting to get my hands on for awhile.. But even more so I've been looking to acquire some splashes and havn't had much luck. My question is... If you want to get a splash baby, do you have to breed a splash to a splash or could you do some sort of a mix like a black and a blue to get a splash baby? Its looking like this may be my best option to get my splash babies. Also, has anyone played with mixing random cochin colors just to see what comes out? I'd be curious to see some babies from mixed color parents... Like a blue and a buff or some odd combination.

Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash
Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Splash X Black = 100% Blue
Black X Black = 100% Black
Splash X Splash = 100% Splash

So depending on how much splash you want, you could breed blue to blue, blue to splash or splash to splash.

Ok.... So I think I get how the splashes work then, but what about mixing other colors? Does that get you mottled? Or is it really known what you get...
