Splash Leghorns

This brings us full circle to my original idea. Getting a black lace on a blue bird that is eb. If the eb modifies the melanotic, I will get a blue lace on a blue bird- not good. But I do not know how the modifiers that are adding the additional black pigment will effect the melanotic????. That is why I said I need more research data to support my ideas.

Thanks for putting up with my endless questions. All interesting stuff.
I'd love to hear of any results you may get or hear of.
The standards call for a lace around every feather for Blue Orps but I've never seen a blue Orp with beautiful lacing like an exhibition Andalusian.

Polands must be ER because they have patterned tail feathers.

When I retire for good in 6 years- I hope to have me a small farm. I will have the facilities to work on blue again. I have found 35 acres- if I get a job next week( had an interview last Monday) I am going to buy the acreage. It will be a good start.

What do you think of a chicken with the pearl color of a guinea? That is my next major project.

Tim

Hope you get the job.

I have a leghorn male that is two months old. The breeder didn't know what color he was because he had a few small grey spots. The first feathers he got were all white with one greyish flight feather. Now he has the flight feather, several other greyish feathers in the general area of his baby spots, and has very light buff tips on some of his body feathers. I thought blue splash before but have no clue now.
