i thought nothing was going to hatch out of my ggs and last night put them into a plastic container- meaning to throw them nut didnt...well lucky coz 1 hatched...but now thats its allfluffed up..I think it has splay leg from being on the slippery surface. I have treated ducks and goslings before... But how can i treat this little one safely..i am afraid to tape its tiny little legs.

Thanks for that - we ended up just carying it around for a while to try and keep it warm and its legs together......But he died a little while ago anyway. He never really gained strength after hatching... Must have been some issue with those eggs- anyway..I guess I will try again next spring.

The year is still young & there is plenty of time for quail hatching. I got great results from my eggs that came from Friendtofowl.

Sorry y'all but ducky's from down under.... other side of the world! While our laying season is just gettin fored up theirs should be wrapping up for the year--- everythings opposite down there from us up here.

Sorry ducky, better luck next hatch?

Uh oh. This kinda scared me a little.
I took some quail eggs out of the incubator today too
because I don't think they are going to hatch and I meant to throw them
away but I never did, they are still sitting on my kitchen counter in a carton.

Did you take the eggs out of the incubator because they were late?

They were way late...I hadnt seen any movement from any eggs after they were put in the hatcher at all. It was only my second time harching quail...So I will be waiting for spring to try any more now........

......but the incubator will still be going here- I have Indian Runner ducks laying...So while some people wrapped up hatching a while ago...I am getting a head start on breeding. Its means they are kept in a warm shed with lights on a a few hours in the evening- and the duckligs will be iniside the house - But I do want to hacth about 20-30 before I get serious next spring.
