Please help!!! My chick hatched this morning and was completely fine. Walked around, chirping with the others. No problems at all. I checked on them and noticed this one on his tummy with one leg straight out behind. When he tries to weight bare, he falls to the side of the seemingly injured leg. He isn't walking anymore and just shuffles on his tummy. He's chirping a lot, but doesn't seem any more bothered when I touch his legs. They both seem normal and I can't see any difference between the two. Could this be splayed leg? Or something else? Thank you!!

I would get the chick on some baby vitamins with riboflavin or crush 1/2 b complex tablet which has riboflavin, and dissolve in a little water and give it daily. They need a non-slip flooring. Sometimes placing them for short periods in a small wineglass or padded cup can help them learn to use their legs. Many times incubation problems with temps or humidity can cause leg and foot problems.

Thank you so much for that. I actually have some already (for my children) so I'll give him some tonight. Do you know what kind of dosage should be given? I'm moving him into the brooder so the floor isn't slippery and I'll give the wine glass/cup suggestion a go too. Thanks again.
