My 1 week old baby chick has a leg that seems to be stuck to the back. She can walk but it’s poorly. Whenever she rests the one leg always bends backwards. I believe it’s splay legged and we hobbled her. But this is the first time we’ve ever had a chicken like this and she seems to have even more trouble walking with the hobble

It sounds more like a twisted tibia, a leg deformity. Can you post any pictures of the chick’s legs standing if you hold her up?
It definitley does not look like that more of how a persons foot would be angled if they were crouching. I will take a picture tommorow morning when I check her walking

Pictures would be helpful. Slipped tendon is another possible cause. Varus valgus deformity is another bone deformity that can happen in one or both legs. Splayed legs are usually wide apart.

I’m sorry about the late reply I wasn’t able to get pictures of the babies legs till now. After it was hobbled it seemed better and she started being able to turn both directions.
