i think my baby has splayed legs.... and ofcourse because of its defect it is my favorite chick! i read up online, and it seems that only the one legs is splayed... i cant cull it.... i just put the bandaid on its legs... otherwise seems very healthy and sooo cute! is there anything else i should do?

ty so much for the link... i have been checking on it and now the porr thing doesnt look so good... its eyes are half closed and its opening and closing its beak with no noise... it kicked off its bandaid, but with the way it looks right now, i dont want to mess with its legs again... whats next!?

How is the chick doing? Your last post didn't sound good.

If it is a simple case of splayed legs, whether it is one leg or both, try this method, for leg braces.

If it is a health issue, and the chick may not make it, then let nature take its course. If you want to revive it and help it, if its just lack of nutrition now, try feeding a booster such as grogel or grogel+B, or maybe put vitamins and electrolytes into the water, dip its beak in to the vit water and encourage it to drink.

If after all you've done, nothing is working, it might be time to say prayers and hope for the best. If Mother Nature decides to let it go back to heaven, make peace with it.

Good luck.

Had four a while back and one recovered , sorry for the less then positive report , but I tried band aids, little splints etc . I noticed mine a bit late though , they were among about twenty chicks and seemed to fade into the flock when I came around ?

i have three right now with bandaids... they've been having the bandaids since saturday... i guess the bandaids are good ones...???

anyways... i took one of their's of, and it was walking, but walking with it's legs a bit separated... should i do it again, and keep the legs closer together..? or will it naturally fix itself...? i want to know when to stop treating them...

thx...

I would look at each chick individual. If they don't act like they're standing on their own after a few hours, reapply the band-aids for a day or two, then recheck. Let us know for further advice!
