hello
and welcome to backyard chickens! if they lay their eggs at the around the same time every day you could try shutting them up in there coop at that time maybe?Water helped them to squeeze out the eggs.I am new at this garden duck thing. I have 3 hens who are about 6 months old. Our first egg showed up yesterday with the solar eclipse. We found another one today. My problem/ question is...why are the eggs in the pond?
My silly ladies will sleep in their pond. I made them a cute little cottage and haven't ever seen them go inside.Sometimes ducks will just lay wherever they are at... but new layers may just have been taken off guard... some say ducks won't lay in nest boxes, but mine do, for the most part... extra laying spots, small doghouses, plastic totes with access holes cut and weighed down so they don't flip work fairly well... might place a couple around the pool, in the run, if they don't return to their house to lay...
Just be patient, it's new for them too...![]()

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
