Split beak

help. My 7 month old silkie has a split beak. What should I do? Vet? File it?

Use toenail or dog clippers and clip it. The rest of the split will grow out and then you can clip that as well. In the meantime, you'll help keep it from snagging on anything. It is like fingernails. Clip the part you can sort of see through (about 2/3 - 3/4 of the split)
