Split flock or say goodbye to 2nd rooster?

To clarify... those are squished raspberries on the ground, not blood. It was not that kind of heated altercation, just a moment of "you will not have those berries first."

Yeah, I would definitely rehome him. Sometimes roosters can get along and it usually helps if they’re raised together but in this case it really seems like these two really do not like each other. :(

Although that said, if you really wanted to keep him, you could probably just add more girls and keep them together as long as there were enough girls.

But I think rehoming him is probably easiest especially if he’s already a jerk and they don’t get along. No need to keep a jerk rooster if you have a nice one. :)

Aw... sorry to hear that they don’t get along. My suspected boy I think had developed some more mature features earlier than the other girls, but now the other two have caught up. So I’m pretty sure I was mistaken in thinking she was a boy(in fact it’s pretty obvious she isn’t). When are you rehoming your EE roo? And where do you live? I would have liked to have a rooster, and I’m considering getting one.

We are in the Seattle, WA area. I've listed him locally and on craigslist, but no takers so far, although someone local said they would take him for food if it comes to that. I realized immediately that I didn't want him eaten!

I mean, I just looked up chicken shipping procedures to see what was involved. I worry it would stress the heck out of him. But maybe more experienced chicken shippers know? Our local post office sees a LOT of chick shipping, so I think they theoretically could cope.

I'm sad that you're not closer. Fingers crossed that we can find someone for him. It looks like shipping out of Washington state would require NPIP? I've just been reading a thread about it, but it sounds like it's probably not a workable idea to ship him.
