My DH just called and stated that one of our girls was spitting up blood. I did notice yesterday that she went to bed early. She is 14 months old and has been fine. The only thing I can think of is that we have been getting soft shell eggs lately, but did not know who was the problem. Told DH to soak her in warm water and massage in case it was a broken egg. Any comments?

Thanks,

Spitting up blood? I am most certain that is the wrong end for egg bound issues - but I could easily be proven wrong.

How is she doing? I would worry that maybe she swallowed something she should not - glass, screw, nail - or that she has had an injury (a hard tumble - thump into the wall).

I thought you were talking about your child. Wasn't until I got to the eggs that I realized it was a chicken.

I suspect something eaten too, cutting into tissue. Not sure how you would treat it though, hope the hen comes through.

My first thought was she ate something she shouldn't have, too.
