My only experienced broody is currently raising chicks.

There are 9 hens in that coop. There were only 8 when I closed up. I couldn't find her, so wherever she went she's on her own. We shall see.

One of the girls does not approve of open air roosting. She grumbles while I carry her over to the ladder, then settles down.

But first thing in the morning she's screaming bloody murder at the coop door until I let her boy out.

The hen that tangled with the dog is pretty much healed. One wing is non-functional and hangs a bit.

She's still in isolation only because she's company for a hen that's limping pretty badly.

This girl is blind. I can walk right up to her, wave my hand around her face, no reaction. But if I touch her she freaks out.

I think it was gradual. I gave her to my sister, but after a few months she was just sitting, refusing to move.

I gathered her up and brought her home early in December. As long as she knows where her food and water are she's good. If I put it in the wrong place she can't find it.

She'll peck around and miss the bowl, but apparently she knows the texture of her food because once she gets a foot in the bowl she'll start eating.

There was another dog attack on Friday. One of the roosters alerted and I ran outside. They ran back home. As far as I can tell none of the birds was hurt, but yesterday I noticed this little lady was hiding and not eating.

No sign of injury or vermin. Crop is fine, feet look good.

I dosed her with corid jic, but I think she's just in shock. I've isolated her with the blind girl.

They are not happy today. This is the first experience with snow for most of them. Their shelter points East, and the wind is blowing pretty steadily from the NE. So 30 birds are huddled at the back, staring at the snow as if it's going to eat them.

Their sacred schedule is thoroughly disrupted, and obviously it's my fault!
