So sorry for your loss. Could also be a smaller predator Arial, or anything that climbs. I would cover your run, ASAP. if you have access to like a game cam or security cam I would set one up too because once they find food they will be back, so would recommend lock down for a few days for their safety. Once killed the other chickens will peck that's why if one is injured we Isolate them.

That was my first thought as well, but would the other birds not have at least gotten injured, and would the prey not have taken its meal?

It could have died of natural causes and one of the other birds started pecking at it and then the other joined in. To rule out or see if it was a predator, if you have a game camera put it up. If it was a predator it will most likely be back. Good luck...
