My norton internet security thing is expired, so I have no protection from phishing (I guess).

I got an email this morning saying

(title) Notification of Limited Account Access RXI019
(From) "[email protected]" <[email protected]>
(message) Hello Shelley xxxxx,

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal
system. We recently contacted you after noticing an issue on your account.

We requested information from you for the following reason:

A recent review of your account determined that we require some additional
information from you in order to provide you with secure service.

Case ID Number: PP-698-676-247

This is a second reminder to log in to PayPal as soon as possible. Once you log
in, you will be provided with steps to restore your account access.

Be sure to log in securely by using the following link:"

THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!!! I was able to change my password before anything dire happened.

If you receive a message like this, first off, don't use the link in the email!! Use your address bar to go to paypal, then forward the email to [email protected] You can call their customer service center at 1-866-888-6080 if you have any questions!!

Just thought I'd give a heads-up, in case someone else is as trusting as I am.

It looked totally legit to me!

There are several free antivirus programs available now. I use avast! I have been much more satisfied with it than I was with Norton or MacAfee (sp?)

But an antivirus would not have prevented that email. Any unsolicited email requesting any personal information should be suspect; you can reveal more than you want simply by answering or even opening an attachment. I don't even open attachments of things like jokes from friends; they may be sending me a problem quite unintentionally.

It's a good warning!
I got taken by this scam several months ago. I logged on and they took my log in info and took money from my checking account. I got the mony back but it took a month and a formal investigation on the part of paypal. I don't use paypal anymore because of it!
BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I sent paypal spoof the email after I realized it was ascam, and before they took my money. It was one of the only things to help with my case to get my money back.

I've got those before. I contacted Paypal by their 1-800 number and they said that they never send out an email like that without posting the same information on your account.

So, before you log on using the email link, check your Paypal account first.

Better yet, never use a business email link unless you were expecting the email.
