hi! I posted this on the chicken thread but someone told me I’d have better luck here! Duh.
Anyways, I have this guinea, Fredrick. He’s pretty dumb. He hates everyone else and he went through a testy stage when he was younger, attacking me all the time. We made him wear a sailor costume for a bit as punishment, and now he loves me. He follows me everywhere, if I walk to the house behind us or to the beehives. But I’ve never gone into the actual yard with him because we have dogs. Yesterday, two of the neighbors dogs got out! Of course, they went to our house ; with 13 chickens and 5 dogs, it’s a hot spot for runaways, I’ve seen 9 dogs in the past month in our yard. The dogs were nice, and we got them some water and found their owner, but it was enough to spook poor Fredrick into our yard. My dogs chased him off, and he flew about 300 feet down the neighborhood (I live in a subdivision but we own tons of acres of land backing up to it.) he didn’t reappear last night, or this morning. He knows about 1 acre of the 800, but I think he’s within the immediate 50 or so. Will he be able to retrace his steps? If not how can I find him?

Poor guy. My chickens have been spooked too (though they've never flown so far). Do you know where he is? You may have to go find him and kind of lead him back. When frightened, poultry that are generally pretty shy will know a friend when they see it and follow them to safety.

I saw where he went yesterday, but my neighbors are sketchy and wouldn’t be very happy about me walking in their yards. I’ll keep walking down the road thoigh!
