I have not had blackhead, I think that's a darkening of the whole head and they act sick, and droopy, it could be dry pox, a few of mine got it this year, some a little, others didn't look so good, it runs it coarse in a few weeks, they pick it up from wild birds, and there's no treatment, and it usually isn't fatal. All of mine have recovered except the Tom we were going to butcher anyways, so we took the opportunity to do so.

Blackhead very rarely will cause the head to turn blue from lack of oxygen. And you're right, they will act very ill when they have blackhead.
