I have just noticed that the last 3 egg's that I have used, have had a sort of spot, (a small circle inside the yolk). Does anyone have any idea what this may be, and are the egg's ok to eat???

Thanks for your reply, do have 2 roosters running with 6 hens. The spot in the yolk, just looks a different shade of yellow. I welcome all coments. Thanks

If you have a rooster, it could be the bullseye dot of fertalization.

If it's just a random white speck, it's fine, that where the germoplast would form from if it was to develop.

Now if it's grey or looks brown it may be a "meat spot" which is where a little of the hen's tissue gets stuck in the egg before the shell is formed.

So which of those 3 sounds right to you?
