I have an Orpington that lays brown eggs and occasionally she lays an egg with dark spots all over it. None of my other two lay eggs with spots. So, I'm curious why somedays they are perfect and sometimes they're spotty. Any thoughts?

It is very normal to get these every now and then, the color is put on the shell in last few minutes of egg development. Sometimes they get too much color sometimes too little and sometimes spots, it's natural and you can't really control it .

If so, yes, it's normal to have them sometimes and sometimes not.
