Spots on Roo's combs...?

My flock is apx 5 months old now, and the roosters are quite large now, and looking very healthy as is the flock as a whole, however I am noticing some black spots, almost like maybe peck bites, or something, they are blackish, I want to know if this is typical, or is it something I should be concerned about?

until someone with more experience answers with more info i would suggest putting fowl pox into google search and also in the search bar here. i just went thru fowl pox with one of my roo's unfortunately it went wet and i lost him. hopefully yours will stay "dry" and everyone will be ok if it is fowl pox. good luck

My roos get scabs on their combs a lot. At first I freaked out and thought it was fowl pox; but I looked at it and realized that they were just scabs. But do some research first, if you find odd looking spots on their combs, I'd suggest looking into fowl pox before drawing any conclusions.

I think they are just scabs, they are only on the two roo's, on the combs only, dry, and affect no other birds... (Fingers crossed)

Well, I am afraid it is indeed fowl pox, it has spread to their cheeks and I see it is white when it starts... I was hoping it was frost bite or something... They sure seem healthy otherwise, do I cull them out of the flock right now?

If it's spreading, I doubt it's scabs.
I read a little about it and apparently there is another (correct me if I'm wrong here)...few types of it. I read a bout 'dry pox' that someone said will clear up with iodine.
I also read that once they get it (and if they survive) they are immune to it.
It all seemed rather sketchy, so someone who has actually dealt with it will have to help you.
