Okay here goes...
I have a little chick who I suppose was born with spraddle leg. It hatched out on Monday, but I didn't notice until Tuesday because I was just trying to get all the chicks out alive. (issues with thermometers during hatch led to a super late and lengthy hatch. I had to assist four chicks, lost three others... )... So I started giving it sugar water on Tuesday evening and through the night every couple of hours, because it was lethargic and pitiful. I had no clue what was going on, and I was STILL trying to save chicks even until yesterday at noon. Last night I was finally finished with chick assisting and could focus on my two who were having issues. One of them I was able to help and is now doing wonderfully. This little one is still flopping around though. Last night I made it some little "shoes" out of duct tape and light cardboard. That helped it get mobility, but still won't stand.
This morning I looked up "spraddle leg" and found the band aid technique. I didn't have any rubber bands or vet tape. Again, this helps it frog hop everywhere, but it still won't straighten it's little legs and stand up. It has really high energy and the BEST little personality I've ever seen. It LOVES me, and looks up and cheeps for me when I come in until I pick it up, then it snuggles down into my arms happily. I will do whatever it takes to help this little one learn to use its legs properly, but I've never dealt with this before, so I need HELP...
It drinks just fine, but seems uninterested in food. I tried baby parrot hand feeding formula last night, and I got it to take a couple of bites by forcing/tricking it, but it does not want to do it on its own yet...
