This is my first year having chicks and I do not know what to do. I have a 6 week old Rhode Island Red that has some serious leg issues. Both of her legs are splayed and she is struggling to walk. She can get up and move a little bit, but is definitely hindered by her legs. From what I have read, it's too late to try to fix her legs with the bandaid/rubber band trick.

Any suggestions?

Sorry I can't personally help but hopefully some of our Members can help you out.

I have helped 2 newborn chicks with the bandaid treatment for 3 days--both completely were fine. If someone else has better info I would take it, but it couldn't hurt to try it on your 6 week old. Try using tape and put the legs together normally spaced apart. It may take longer than the 3 days for a newborn, but you probably ought to try something. Have you always owned this chick or did you just get it recently?

take a zip tie and rubberbands wrap the zip tie around the chicks legs to that the legs are a normal distance apart then use the rubber band to seperate it in the middle

least thats what ive done
