spraying eggs with a mister????

my sis-n-law used to hatch guinnea hens....I have chicken eggs in mine, but she said she would only turn once a day and she would mist them with a sprayer during the last few days to "soften the shell" anyone heard of this????

The spraying of eggs won't soften the eggs, but it does add moisture to the incubator.
