Spreading ashes, but how much?

Hi folks,

Many say that spreading ashes in a coop and run are very good for a hen's general health.

So I was wondering... Is there a limit to the amount of ashes that I can spread inside the coop and run?

I might gone into "overkill" mode because I have been dumping ashes as though it was going out of style, muttering to myself, "Parasites will die! Parasites will die!"

Wouldn't be cool to lose hens due to "over-ashing"

By the way, coop and run are covered in sand. Nest boxes filles with dried de-thatched grass.

Thanks!

I work to keep my woods clear for my free range birds and am always burning old wood and brush, my birds all dust bath in the ashes and i am talking about a foot of ashes sometimes, so no they are not going to get over ashed. LOL put as much as you want, the more the better, the ash is so fine it smothers mites and other small buggies and it helps keep the birds clean, they will love you for it.
