Spring 2014 Hatch-A-Long!

I will be filling my bator on Jan. 31st with English Orpington eggs from my birds.

I am collecting eggs from my Orps now!!

So far I have 10 eggs from my Lavender hens and 12 eggs from my BBS hens I am going to collect eggs until the 31st and then I will set them in the bator that night!!

I just started my first "big" hatch. I got 12 eggs on Friday and 12 eggs on Saturday. I let them sit for about 18 hours each after their journey and now they are all in the incubator. they are all various colors of silkie.

One came in with a hairline crack but it's one of 2 of my only blue silkies so I'm really hoping I was able to patch it in time and save it. -fingers crossed- I had an absolutely terrible experience with both these packages and the usps so I'm a bit worried about the fact none may hatch.
I know I'm a bit earlier than you so I hope that's okay.

Congrats!! I have never tried to hatch shipped eggs but I do ship eggs and so far I have had wonderful results! It is all in the way they are packed! If they are packed well the will arrive well...unless the boxes are delayed somewhere.

I have eggs due to hatch this coming Sat, but I'm already collecting eggs for my next hatch

I love the blue black splash colors! I've been trying to get my hands on some for a while now.
Both sellers did a great job packaging as I only got one small hairline crack and I was able to repair it because it didn't break the membrane. It's one of my blue babies. I'll keep an eye on it still just in case though.
From one seller I got 7 white, 2 blue, 1 black, 1 splash, and 1 buff.
The other seller included a mix of paint, buff, partridge and black. They weren't marked so they will be a surprise.

The bator is warming and the eggs are piling up!!

So excited to get started hatching!!!

41 eggs in the bator!! I decided to do all BBS for this batch then in March do a full batch of Lavenders instead of doing Half and Half this time!

The eggs are due to hatch on Feb. 21st we set them at 11:20 AM (28 min. ago)

We have chicks!!

2 hatched this morning on day 20 and 17 hours and day 20 and 20 hours one more hatched just a few min. ago on day 21 and 4 hours!

the 2 older are blue and the new one I cant tell yet but it is either black or blue!

5 more eggs are piped waiting for the other 16 to start!

All eggs are from my BBS English Orpingtons!
