Spring 2017 first timers post!

Pics
I am working on my first coop, the brooder will be in the coop and I am using the Mama Heating Pad. I am getting 7 chicks the first week of April 2017. I was hoping to get a few of us newbies together who are gearing up for our first time this spring! Lets post pictures of our coops, our birds when we get them and see who gets the first egg!

Who is in?

Gary from Idyllwild Ca here:)
I got my first chicks last summer. My only advice is read up on "Chicken Math" its a reality! Since you are building coope from scratch build bigger than you think you need/want right now because you will most likely want more chicks later! Good Luck!

Well - I just noticed this post was older! oops!!

Colly you and I are getting ours shipped on the same date. This is nowhere near my first time with chickens but first time in 2017!!
Also my first time with shipped chicks.
This is my first time with shipped chicks too. I've had aquatic animals shipped to me before, but never little fluffy butts. I'm a bit anxious, since Maine is pretty cold this time of year....hopefully the shipper packs them well.

Took everyone outside for some sun today. They range in age from about 10 days to 4 weeks. I can't believe how fast they're growing.

Hello Everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for awhile... Its been a longggg and stressful few weeks dealing with a landscaper who stole our money after only doing half a days worth of work. So between finishing the coop and trying to hire a new landscaper its been busy busy busy! All 15 of the chicks I ordered from My pet chicken are thriving and healthy, I'm still trying to wrap my head around how they are already 8 weeks old....I swear I just got them in the mail yesterday! LOL. Anywho, they've moved out into their big girl coop we built thats 10x12. Still have some minor things to fix and add to it but it's livable. I don't have a predator problem (Our biggest threat would be hawks) in suburbia and didn't have to do anything too fancy since we have mild winters. We've been growing fodder for the girls in addition to their feed. All is well but here's our little urban set up. .
Whoa, love that color!
