Spring 2017 first timers post!

Well...........I have a question! My first flock has expanded. I've dealt with a very sick lil chica with pasty butt who is finally doing well. Had to move her to a small group...but that ISN'T my question!

Teaser!

I picked up these two chica's in early March.
They were identified as two different breeds: Tetra Brown and White Leghorn. One had a solid back, the other had two darker stripes down her backside.(1st pic)

This is them over the last few weeks:

and.....

and today..........

Any clues on them? They seem to have the exact same coloring now..........and no real discernible difference! Help? lol

I have a couple that look like that too tho one is more golden the other is more red in color Tis is one of them in front there with the golden feathers

the other is on the left looking up at the camera the more red one ....... I have no idea what mine are specifically but was guessing red sex link and Gold sex link .... possibly was told that I would need to wait until they are around 6weeks and ask in the what breed / gender threads

I guess that makes total sense. I was expecting the leghorn to be plain white but the markings on both are so similar now it seems a bit odd but maybe they are just gawky teenage girls wearing each other's clothes! Thanks for answering I'll wait a few more weeks to ask...though the suspense is killing me!

They look a lot like our gold sex links. They look quite a bit like Leghorn and Delawares when babies.

They are both tetra browns, when the tractor supply people were sorting the chicks the probably got a couple mixed up. Either that or the person who grabbed them only grabbed tetra browns. They are very pretty though!

I guess its a wait and see moment.....its somewhat like my daughter's ducks who we were told were Khaki's----and there is no way---we're just waiting!

I'm good with tetra browns----- they are totally cute and sweet and not too skittish at all. Loving them all and if they are both tetras it gives me an excuse to get my leghorns! yay! Thank you all!

Yeah! I have three tetras of my own and they are great.

Day we arrived!

Mr. Henrey Roo (our Blue Ameraucana, if he is in fact a rooster, which we ordered on purpose)

Nibbles, our Blue Splash Maran (she's got pretty feathered legs)

Frost (our white super blue layer)

Golden Cuckoo Maran (she hasn't been named yet, also you may notice I change their names sometimes as I go so I apologize in advance if I do)

Juno (silver gray Dorking, she was our tiny runt and was a little weaker on arrival but she pulled through great and is near the top of their pecking order now)

One of our Easter Eggers

Our two Rhode Island Reds (I can longer tell who was who when little)

Our second Easter egger

One of our crested cream legbar (I love her little crest!)

And either our welsummer or Light brown Leghorn. I have a hard time telling these two breeds apart, but we think it is our Leghorn.
Sorry for the picture blow up on here, just wanted to share!!!!
Also many of babies (we have 16) would not cooperate this morning so not all are posted

Love this the before and after! such pretty chicks. Question for you...did your Cream Legbar always have a crest if not when did it start coming in? I have one and no crest yet.

We are about to join all of you lucky parents!!! Tomorrow is shipping date so maybe today was crack out?? We spent all day today, no different than the last couple of weeks, working on our coop. Pretty much completed, need some weather stripping around the door, inside and outside ramps, and the stairs need to be worked on. Want them to be removable so that we can roll a wheelbarrow to the door for clean out, and the "dams" that keep the shavings from fall out are also removable. Finishing touches will be "curtains" for the nest boxes, food and water containers, and a low, temporary roost till they can use the full size roosts and some toys.

Now we have a little more work on the run, covering the run and regrading one corner due to my poor initial effort. All in all, pretty darn close. TBC. BB

Wow!!!! Looks fantastic!!! You both did a great job. Wish you both weren't on the other side of the country from me. You've been so supportive I could use some chicken friends like you nearby

Love the coop now I have to search and see if I can see some pictures of your new chicks!
