Spring 2017 first timers post!

I love all the new chickens! Congrats everyone!

Thought I would post a few pictures as I integrated my two flocks. The big ones are 11 weeks old and the newest chicks are 2 1/2 weeks. I keep them separate but, as you can see, some of the big guys have already take to them. Our EE rooster loves them. I have a barred rock that will peck them if given the chance. But I had all 4 our in the coop yard and she did better.

My girls, and maybe a roo, are 9 and 10 weeks. They're free ranging all day and follow me to the coop near dark without bribery. They all get a little petting and we talk before bed. One of the RIRs and the EE that's not a roo like to perch on my arm and shoulder and hang out before I close the coop door.

My chickens are chicken. Put ramps from the brooder to main coop and they will have nothing to do with it.

My chicks slept on the floor for a few nights before they would go up the ramp to the roosting areas. Give em time to expand their horizons.

Mine have also taken their time expanding the amount of space they range in the backyard.

They really are chicken aren't they?

I've done lost my mind....I started with 15 chickens that I ordered from mypetchicken late December....rehomed 5 of them. Then got 2 more. I just ordered 3 more chicks because I somehow convinced myself that I needed olive eggers to get the full rainbow basket. Chicken math y'all....its a dangerous phenomenon.

I'm waiting on my small batch to come in I'm getting buff orpingtons white rocks and black australops from Meyer they should be here between the 27th and the 29th and I can't wait I'm so excited my hubby is gonna hate me lol cuz I got 3 breeds instead of 1. He just gonna have to get over it cuz they have already been ordered and if I'm gonna be the one taking care of them it should be my choice. I could have been nice and threw a RIR in there somewhere for him but I didn't think about it til it was too late.
