Spring 2017 first timers post!

Can anyone tell me if 42* degrees is to cold for 7 week old buff Orpingtons to be outside.?

That should be fine. Is that the temp at night?

Yeah that is the low temp for tonight and tomorrow night and then it'll be 50's and 60's

My chicks are about 2 weeks old and I haven't used any supplemental heat since I got them at a couple days old we put their brooder in the garage at night and outside during the day unless it's cold and rainy like today I'd say it gets down to the 50s at night right now 75-85 during the day and they've all been totally fine

Took Summer, Mary and Chickaletta for a stroll today. They enjoyed the outside time.

Let the older birds out of the coop to free range a bit but they seemed afraid to get too far away from the coop.

Clover, Stella, Crow, and Lulu got to go outside today to check out their run.

Yesterday they got to feel the grass.

My modified purina design 4x4 coop is finally built and ready to paint then install corrugated PVC roof and vinyl floor tiles! Oh and build the attached run... And the girls are still only 4 weeks old. Phew!

Please let me know what y'all think!

Peaking in from the small side maintenance hatch, shows the two roosts and all openings elevated and a slip out 2x6 against bottom of cleanout door on right - planning for deep litter method.

So I have been off the forum for awhile due to life so thought I would give an update on my flock.
About a week ago we went to a poultry swap not looking to actually buy or trade anything but there was a pair of Turkens about a year old and they have the olive egg gene and my enablers let me get them.

so far she has not laid any eggs for me but change in surroundings gonna give her another week before I panic

So the adults in the pic are Wolverine (he came with that name on account of his sideburns making him look like the comic character) and his lady is Jean Grey
The four huddled together are my broiler chicks 2 Cornish crosses and 2 Red Rangers. The rest of the pictures aren't all of my girls (at least hoping they are girls) but they are having so much fun outside I had issues with getting pictures of them all and the group in the cage/brooder are the smallest I put them in the coop so they can get to know everyone else. tho one of them is a roo.
