Spring has arrived and so have the mighty carpenter ants.I found a bunch in my kitchen this morning... what can I use to kill them before they get into my house....need something safe for the girls as they free range daily. we used to spray the foundation with a chemical before we had chickens..any advise??

Those lil devils can be troublesome. They are probably card carrying in the carpenters union. They may be equipped with a nail pouch and hammer also.

We don't have carpenters , but we do get ants. Here is what we use. This is non toxic and the way it works is simple. Ants like to eat sweet things. This sweet thing has added borax. Borax causes gas to be formed in the digestive track. In humans, gas escapes in the form of a fart. Ants CAN NOT fart. They pop. and are history. Have used this indoors and outdoors. Obviously rain will cause need to reapply. Place in area where ants are present. When they taste the good stuff, they rush home to let all their family and friends know where the dessert is located.
