Spring Molting?

Can anyone tell me if there is a spring molt? I’d read somewhere that there is so when my chickens started losing feathers a few weeks ago I wasn’t concerned but now I’m mostly reading it only happens in the fall. My chickens are a year old this month. They’re mixed in with five others who are only about 8 months old who are NOT experiencing this feather loss. Not seeing any signs of mites or lice everyone is eating drinking and laying normally. I’m in PA.

It is not unusual for chickens to molt I. The spring. The chicken in your last photo looks like it has been feather pecked by her flock mates. That has happened before in my flock and I used BLUEKOTE on her bottom to help heal the area and avoid further pecking. Best wishes and Be well!

I am having the same thing going on and I was freaking out. Mine are exactly 12-13 Months too!! Good to know! Thanks for posting
