    Hello,
I am very interested in getting backyard chickens but would like to connect with a local keeper before I jump into the deep end. I don't want to take on the responsibility and find out that it's not for me. Is there a local poultry club? I approached beekeeping this way and it worked out very well. I knew what I was getting into before I purchased our bees. Thank you for your help :)

Plus chickens don't sting. You can put "Texas," in the search box above and your state thread will pop up. You can see if any BYCers live near you.....

Welcome to BYC! Chickens are sooo easy to take care of. I would suggest checking out your state thread.
