We have competing ordinances that are both pro and con chickenkeeping in the city.

A recent commission recommended a 6 chicken limit with some other restrictions, but overall a good start to the law.

The committee was tied 2-2. The city planning and zoning people were for it, the health people were against it. That would have been the death of the Springfield city chicken, but they allowed it to be brought up at the next city council meeting, which is tomorrow night, Monday, July 26th.

I'm hoping to bring more evidence to bear about the sanitary and safe nature of keeping chickens. Facts don't always change politics, but it can help.

Wish us luck, and if you have a pdf already assembled, I'd love to have it!

We are going through the same sort of thing, ours is just going to be going to be heard along with a report. All I can hope is that the report is positive. I have found that people are stuck on the chickens are dirty ,smelly, noisy, deases causing bird, little do they know parrots carry the same risk and are normally louder then chickens! I hope all goes well for you.

You NEED to make it! take a sick day if need be. The more support the better. i just hope that a few people come out for our meeting.
