So I just incubated a few eggs in my new home made bator but due to a family emergency I had to leave the eggs and not hand turn them for three days mid development. I believe this is the reason five out of six did not make it to hatch. :(

But one little guy did make it! And his name is baby Sprinkles. He or she is a silver spangled Hamburg bantam. :celebrate

Anyway as soon as I was sure the other eggs were not going to hatch I moved Sprinkles to the brooder and went out for the day...and I came home to find that in my absence the heat lamp bulb had blown! Poor baby sprinkles was upside down with his legs in the air, cold as a stone in the dark brooder. I thought he was dead for sure. :hit

But he was alive (just)! :weeand by taking him out into the sunshine and rubbing his tiny body I managed to revive him. :woot

Fast forward four days and he is now a healthy, incredibly active five day old chick who already comes when I call his name! Oh and I got him a couple of brooder buddies, two gorgeous little blue silkies by the names of Mushroom and Milkshake, but Sprinkles the survivor is definitely my favourite. :love

This is Sprinkles now, aged 10 weeks. Isn't she pretty? I've heard this breed isn't supposed to be very friendly but she is just the sweetest.
