Sprouting grains

Yupp! I remember the nice and cozy »Winters« in H-town! Shorts and t-shirts year 'round. - We had just 48 hours of frost and today it was raining and everything's a mess!

I was stationed in WV many years ago....Sugar Grove. Oh don't miss winter there!

Excuse the dumb question: What is BOSS ?

Boss is short for Black Oil Sunflower Seed.

@PerlyBee You could probably sow seeds directly into the ground and cover with 'grazing frames'.

I'm having the mold issue too...my fodder is growing great but I keep getting mold. I think I need to rinse better and do bleach.

P.s. .. are you close to Brownsville?

Hi. Yes im about 5mins from Mcallen about an hr from Brownsville.
Soaking the seeds and then dumping them on the run and covering them with a plastic crate works perfectly! My chickens have been enjoying fresh sprouts.( See pic i posted at the top of this thread)

Look at the grazing frames, the plants will live much longer if you use them.

I think I might try doing that in the flower boxes I have outside the coop and then just pulling up sections for them. My run is sand so I'm not sure how that would work.

I have to go to McA next week to meet with the VA VocRehab people. I dread the drive. UGH.

I wouldn't mind if it is cold here, just the wild weather swings are killing me! 25h rain yesterday, sunny and 70's today, frost overnight and tomorrow snow… Can't wrap my head around it!

Thank you very much! - By coincidence i have set up a bin with BOSS just yesterday. Can't wait to see if the Duckies like those. They love the seeds, so i hope the sprouts will be a big hit.
