sprouting grains

I had someone talking about sprouting grains for there chickens. Can someone tell me more about? I would be happy to do it for my chicks 7 weeks and 3 week old. When can I start to give it, how much, what is best, do I need to still give the crumbles?

Fresh greens are a wonderful feed (but not complete so be sure to offer crumbles!). I feed my birds sunflowers and a lot of the seeds get hidden and sprout... that's always a welcomed surprise for the birds. If you find any chickweed growing, water it and let it grow. That's the best green stuff you could give a chicken, and they love it!
