Sprouting Wheat Grass

I've done a small experiment after some observations during the first few days and found that a significant improvement in growth is obtained by not disturbing the seeds after the initial 4 hour soak. So instead of pouring water in the containers and pouring it out after an hour or so I just spritz the seeds a few times a day and keep them lightly covered. I'll get a photo after while if anyone is interested. I "think" moving them around during the first few days confuses the roots a might and slows down the growth of the sprouts.

Interesting! It makes sense; plants growing in the field aren't jostled around.

Both of these flats are the same age, the one on the left is spritz only after the initial soak.


The camera doesn't show it as well as in real life but the stalks are thicker and much taller.

So what's been working well for me is to just spritz the seeds and cover until they start to sprout grass up about 3/4" from then on I soak them for an hour each morning. I don't do any soak on the first day just spritz and cover. Been working good...
