Sprouting wild bird seed?

My daughter accidentally got a bucket of 7 grain whole grain from a local bakery when I had asked her to pick up a bucket of 7 grain CEREAL. I didn't realize it until I popped the lid off, then couldn't return it.

So I'm sprouting it about 1/2 cup (6 gallon bucket) at a time....my hens LOVE IT. I have one jar soaking, one just starting to sprout and one almost ready to give them all the time.

Sunflower seeds will germinate at 39° minimum. However, a temperature of at least 46° is required for uniformity of any kind. Put a tin pan filled with water under your sprouter station and add a submersible aquarium heater to it. Cover your sprouting station with a clear garbage bag ( you can find these at Walmart )
You'll not only get the bennies of the humidity you'll be able to sprout through the winter in an unheated garage.

Cool! Thanks so much!!!! Kinda makes it a little portable greenhouse! Great idea!
