You could use masking tape (and vet wrap probably as well), but it mainly just makes the spur duller if you will; as it wraps around the spur instead of completely covering/reshaping from a point to a blunt (soft), round, tip. The masking tape will still have a point and be just as hard as the spur, if you're scared of getting hit it'll still hurt a good bit though it probably won't puncture you like a normal spur will. ETA: Also, vet wrap is more expensive in the long run as is masking tape, you have to take it off and swap it eventually I'd assume, not to mention numerous manfighters would have to be re-taped over the years, etc. Gloves can be removed and swapped from bird to bird easily and last forever generally speaking.hmmmmm what was the facebook link for?

what about using vet wrap or I think I read somewhere masking tape. I have been able to at least trim spurs with dog clippers...I kinda shave off the sides of the spur with the clippers until it is small enough in diameter to clip. then I make sure its rounded....
For the purposes of manfighting roosters, to protect oneself or perhaps hens during breeding season.Hey do you know where i can get some of the boxing glove for the chicken spur?
