Spur removal or clipping? Anyone?

Razzmatazz my roo is getting some spurs now - before they were just bumps but now they are not looking safe. I would like to trim them or something before he spurs me- The rat is big on sneak attacks lately. Any suggestions?

how old is he because some female chicks get little spurs to but don't grow

Razzmatazz will be a year old on 7/15/2010. He is definately a Rooster.
