Of my 10 Buff Orpington chicks, 1 has always showed rooster signs. In the brooder, it rounded up the others when the lights went out. It's comb and waddles developed earlier and are redder. The legs are larger. Now that they're in the coop/run, he makes sure everyone comes in at night and looks after the others.
Now, his back legs have a definitive bump right where spurs would be. Is that possible at 7 weeks? It's my first time raising chicks, and we ordered females. I am actually hoping it is a rooster because of the benefits of 1 in the flock. I know vent sexing is only 90%, so I hope they missed one.
