We have a 16 week speckled Sussex (Demetrius) that seems to have developed a larger redder comb and waddle faster than the 3 other chickens we received at the same time, born the same day. (Brahma, black sexlink, and Delaware) And seems to have longer tail feathers then usual female Sussex. She also has really long legs.
I could have sworn I heard a rooster type crow this morning. And I know for certain the 6 other chickens we have are hens (they’ve laid eggs). The store that sold us the chicks said “pullets (> 90% female)”. We were told at purchase they are female.
